About the Role
The Thrift Store Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the SCCSS Thrift Store and helps create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive retail environment for customers, donors, clients, and volunteers. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth store operations and positive customer experiences. The position reports to the Lead – VolunteerProgram and Navigation Services.
What You’ll Do
- Operate the till; receive and process cash, debit,and credit transactions
- Provide exceptional customer service; assist customers in locating items and answering inquiries
- Support creative merchandising, inventory rotation, and store presentation
- Assist with daily cash-in and cash-out procedures
- Engage, support, and collaborate with volunteers to build a positive team environment
- Receive, organize, and sort incoming donations
- Support online sales processes and general store operations
- Identify recyclable materials and contribute to environmentally responsible practices
- Perform general store duties that contribute to smooth and efficient operations
- Demonstrate excellent service and professionalism when assisting customers and donors
- Perform other related duties as required
What You Bring
