Our client is a non-profit compassionate organization established in 1981, dedicated to brightening the lives of isolated seniors within the Greater Toronto Area.

Through skilled volunteer pairing, they provide companionship, support, and dignity, combating social isolation with programs tailored to fostering lasting connections and well-being.

  • Lead the recruitment strategy for volunteers across all our programs, developing compelling opportunities tailored to attract individuals passionate about senior care.
  • Utilize diverse channels such as online platforms, community events, and networking to reach and engage potential candidates.
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews and in-person interviews to ensure alignment with our organization's mission and values and facilitate reference checks and background checks.
  • Set ambitious yet achievable targets for volunteer recruitment, aiming for 150 volunteers annually with a focus on achieving 10 volunteers per month.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to match volunteers with suitable programs based on their skills and interests.
  • Oversee the onboarding process, including transitioning training back to in-person sessions, and providing necessary support for volunteers assigned to specific programs.
  • Foster a sense of community and camaraderie among volunteers to promote long-term engagement and retention.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve recruitment strategies, measuring the effectiveness of efforts and seeking opportunities for expansion .

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, human resources, or nonprofit management preferred.
  • Proven experience in volunteer recruitment, engagement, or management, particularly within the context of community-based organizations or senior care.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate the mission and values of the organization to potential volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster a sense of community among volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies across various channels, including online platforms, community events, and networking.
  • Experience conducting interviews and screening processes, including reference and background checks, to ensure alignment with organizational requirements.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with the ability to set and achieve ambitious targets for volunteer recruitment while maintaining flexibility based on seasonal fluctuations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a genuine passion for serving seniors and enhancing their quality of life through volunteerism.
  • Access to a vehicle with a valid driver's license
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Strategically advertise volunteer opportunities across various social media platforms to reach a diverse audience of potential volunteers.
  • Engage with relevant groups and communities on social media to expand reach and attract new volunteers.
