Environmental Compliance Officer

As an Environmental Compliance Officer with our client, you will play a critical role in helping organizations minimize their environmental footprint, comply with regulations, and promote sustainable practices.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, such as those related to air quality, water quality, hazardous waste management, and pollution control.
  • Developing, implementing, and updating environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and promote sustainable practices within the organization.
  • Conducting regular inspections and audits of facilities to identify potential environmental risks, violations, or areas for improvement.

This involves assessing processes, equipment, and waste management practices.

Managing the permitting process for activities that impact the environment, such as emissions permits or discharge permits.

They also prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies.

  • Assessing the potential environmental impact of proposed projects, expansions, or changes to operations. This includes identifying potential risks, proposing mitigation measures, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Developing and implementing risk management strategies to prevent environmental incidents and minimize the impact of emergencies such as spills, leaks, or accidents.
  • Collaborating with other departments within the organization, as well as with regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and community stakeholders, to address environmental concerns and ensure compliance.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and maintaining environmental data and records to track compliance, identify trends, and support decision-making processes.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in environmental performance and sustainability practices and implementing measures to enhance environmental stewardship. Education and Experience :
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance.
  • Thorough understanding of environmental regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially MS Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-up skills, and data management abilities.
  • Proficient in process improvement, organization, and project management.
