We are currently seeking a Senior Regulatory Reporting Specialist to join our team.
The Senior Regulatory Reporting Specialist performs specialized regulatory reporting functions that contributes to the regulatory reporting program for the credit union.
This senior technical role, works with minimal supervision, takes on a leadership role by being a subject matter expert in regulatory reporting, mentors other accounting staff and acts as an advisor to the business on technical regulatory matters.
The Senior Specialist works with other finance leaders to ensure that regulatory reporting is accurate.
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day
Regulatory Reporting : Key contributor to the production, completeness and accuracy of all regulatory reporting. Interprets rules and regulations, ensures that reporting follows guidelines.
Manages the internal and external credit reporting for the credit union.
- Accounting : Researches and interprets accounting standards with respect to how they relate to regulatory reporting and works with senior finance management, to ensure regulatory reporting complies with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Controls & Compliance : Maintains the regulatory control framework, researching new regulations or guidance. Documents overall process that ensures the integrity of regulatory reporting.
- Continuous Improvement : Develops and implements new procedures to enhance workflow of the department; monitors and analyses department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Stakeholder Relations : Maintains a network with peers at other credit unions, participating in committees and projects;
- attends board / FWLT meetings as required; provides specialized educational briefings to all levels of the organization;
and participates in organizational projects.
- Professional Development : Maintains a thorough understanding of regulatory guidance; maintains knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
- researches and interprets accounting standards on specific issues, prepares position papers; advises on the implementation of new regulations or new accounting standards (IFRS);
maintains a thorough understanding of accountabilities of regulatory reporting; and takes on these areas as required.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting required
- CPA, CGA, CA or CMA required
- 5 years of experience in an accounting role, with some regulatory reporting experience required
- Experience in financial services required
- Oracle experience preferred
- Financial institution experience preferred
- Ability to perform complex tasks with little or no supervision; comfortable working in a fast-paced setting where meeting time-sensitive deadlines is required
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment
- Proven leadership skills in order to lead and motivate a diverse cross-regional team
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
- Advanced knowledge of accounting theory and standards (IFRS)
- Working knowledge of regulatory environments in a financial services setting
- Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range : $73,920 - $94,700
