Norbec is seeking a hands‑on Automation Controls Technician to support the startup and expansion of our new 150,000 ft² manufacturing facility in Strathroy, Ontario. This role will play a key part in capital projects, equipment installation and commissioning, production support, and continuous improvement as the facility expands.
This is an in‑person role for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, taking ownership of projects from concept through startup, and working closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, this Senior Automation Controls Technician role is focused on continuous improvement, production support and new project startup.

Following one year of production, Norbec is entering a phase of rapid ramp‑up, new product launches, and facility expansion, requiring dedicated automation and controls expertise to support reliability and growth. This new position will provide technical leadership and mentorship to maintenance and engineering team members during automation‑related projects.
Job Responsibilities
Automation & Controls :
Lead the planning, implementation, and improvement of automation and control systems for new capital projects and process improvementsTroubleshoot, modify, and optimize PLC and HMI programsDevelop and maintain programming, electrical, and controls standardsElectrical & Panel Work :
Design, verify, and maintain electrical schematicsDesign, fabricate, and install control panelsPerform electrical wiring and automation‑related repairs as requiredEquipment & Production Support :
Actively participate in equipment installation, commissioning, and early production supportWork closely with maintenance, production, and suppliers to resolve equipment and controls issuesIdentify inefficiencies in existing equipment and independently propose and implement improvementsDocumentation & Training :
Develop technical documentation and deliver training to operations and maintenance teamsEnsure equipment is operated safely and correctlyEducation and Experience Required
7+ years of experience implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial automation and control systems (or equivalent experience)Diploma (3‑year) in Electrical Engineering Technology or B.Tech / B.Eng in Electrical EngineeringElectrical license (309A or 442A) is a bonusKey Skills Required
