The Data Governance (DG) team is responsible for setting the strategy, policy and direction of adequate Information and Data Governance across Canada.

We seek an upbeat, experienced Records Retention Manager to support this initiative.

In this role, the Manager or Records Management will play a critical role in ensuring that Aviva Canada's records are organized and retained appropriately and assist in developing and delivering a comprehensive record strategy whilst keeping abreast of the regulatory landscape.

This role will work closely with the Data Governance Officer (DGO) and teams across our Aviva Group concerning Records Management initiatives.

What you'll do :

Act as Aviva Canada's record specialist, setting and monitoring the ongoing strategy for records retention management.

Assist in developing a comprehensive records treatment process / tooling that addresses the varying aspects of data / system / applications and implements data retention treatment strategies.

Work across the business with data owners / principles and IT, aligning retention schedules to treatment plans.

Develop and lead a cross-functional records steering committee that includes all relevant partners, such as legal, information security, privacy, and IT.

Design and operationalize records management reporting / scorecard across Aviva Canada.

Update and maintain the Records Retention Schedule, ensuring it is fit for use and straightforward for treatment purposes.

Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to records management.

Maintain and, where applicable, implement records retention schedules and policies that determine how long records should be kept and when they should be disposed of across the organization.

What you'll bring

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

Experience in assisting in developing and deploying processes, methodologies, and technologies for records and information management.

Experience building and rolling out an enterprise-wide records management program in Financial Services would be an asset.

A proven understanding of Insurance organizations and financial organizations is an asset.

A medium-high level of comfort with information technology as it relates to record and information management.

Demonstrates outstanding judgment and integrity with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice, considering legal and business objectives.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects.

Ability to lead through influence at all levels, especially at senior levels.

A strong teammate who can work well cross-functionally and gain the respect of all levels of partners.

An ability to speak IT and business language.
