Key Responsibilities
Contractor Coordination & Oversight
Coordinate EHS-related activities with external contractors (construction, maintenance, waste management, calibration, validation, etc.).
Ensure contractors comply with company EHS policies , site rules, and regulatory requirements.
Review contractor risk assessments, method statements, permits, and safety documentation prior to work.
Conduct contractor site orientations , safety briefings, and toolbox talks.
Monitor contractor activities on-site and address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
Health & Safety Support
Assist in implementing and maintaining EHS programs, procedures, and work instructions.
Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and observations in manufacturing and support areas.
Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective / preventive actions (CAPA).
Assist with emergency preparedness activities, drills, and response coordination.
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
Support environmental compliance activities such as waste segregation, hazardous material handling, and disposal.
Assist with air, water, and chemical management programs as applicable.
Maintain EHS records, logs, and documentation in accordance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and FDA / QSR expectations.
Training & Communication
Support EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
Track training completion and maintain accurate training records.
Act as a point of contact for EHS-related questions from operations and contractors.
Continuous Improvement
Identify EHS risks and improvement opportunities within manufacturing and contractor activities.
Support EHS initiatives aimed at reducing incidents, improving compliance, and enhancing safety culture.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering , or related field.
1–3 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in manufacturing or regulated industries (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech).
Experience working with or managing outside contractors strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Basic knowledge of OHSA / EHS regulations and environmental compliance.
Familiarity with medical device manufacturing environments is a plus.
Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Ability to communicate clearly with contractors, operators, and management.
Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor and in controlled environments.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic EHS reporting systems.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to walk manufacturing areas, climb stairs, and access equipment areas.
Ability to wear required PPE.
Occasional off-shift or weekend support may be required during contractor work.
