The Role As our Senior Finance Manager, Tax, working closely with our Senior Director, Tax, you'll be responsible for managing our global tax planning strategies and initiatives, ensuring that we are in compliance with tax regulations while also optimizing our tax liabilities.

The role requires a deep understanding of international tax laws, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Your work will span across our Canadian and US operations, making your expertise in these jurisdictions not just valuable, but essential.

With a focus on strategy and implementation, you will play a crucial role in managing our company's tax obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage cross-border tax issues, transfer pricing, and the tax implications of international business transactions.
  • Identify opportunities for tax optimization and operational efficiencies. Drive initiatives that enhance our overall tax position.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of tax strategies.
  • Work closely with finance, legal, and business units to provide tax insights and support strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with outside tax advisors and tax counsel, as needed, to ensure effective tax support and guidance.
  • Oversee and manage tax compliance preparation workstreams.
  • Stay ahead of changes in tax regulations and adjust our strategies accordingly.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, or related field.
  • A CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification.
  • 8+ years of experience in tax planning, with a significant portion focused on Canadian tax systems and cross-border experience with the US.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, provincial, state, and local tax laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply complex tax concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and identify tax implications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
  • A proven track record of managing cross-functional projects with multiple dependencies in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Points

  • Advanced degree in taxation, finance, or a related field (e.g., Master of Taxation, LLM in Taxation) is highly desirable.
  • Global taxation experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience with US GAAP and ASC 740 tax accounting reporting.
  • Experience with indirect tax compliance (e.g. GST, PST, VAT, and sales tax) and related reporting systems.

$128,000 - $176,000 a yearThe typical salary range for this position is from $128,000-$176,000 annually. The base pay offered may vary depending on a variety of factors, including your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
