Casual Program and Activity Leader
The Town of Slave Lake is seeking a dynamic person to fill the Casual Program and Activity role.
Reporting to the Recreation Services Coordinator, this individual will assist in planning and organizing, and will lead programs and activities at the Multi-Rec Facility and at all joint and municipally managed recreation facilities in a safe and engaging manner. The role will also accept program registrations and payments for drop-in and facility rentals. The role will greet facility users in a friendly, welcoming manner and assist in maintaining a clean, welcoming facility.

SALARY :
$18.72 – $23.59 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Implement recreational activities for children, teens, and adults, including sports, games, arts, and crafts
- Design and lead activities that are age-appropriate, engaging, and safe
- Lead organized team activities, such as group games, relay races, and other team-building activities
- Monitor participants’ safety during activities and ensure all safety protocols are being followed
- Ensure all supplies and equipment are in proper working order and stored safely
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to participants
- Encourage active participation, good sportsmanship, and positive interaction among participants
- Always maintain a professional attitude and appearance
- Communicate with parents / guardians, participants, and supervisors
- Greet facility users in a friendly, welcoming manner
- Accepts payment for drop-in and facility rentals
- Accepts program registrations and assists with booking of facilities
- Assist in providing a clean and welcoming facility
- Ensure that tasks are performed safely and in compliance with applicable legislation, policies and procedures.
- Health and Safety : Must adhere to all safety standards under the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, Town Policies and Procedures and WHMIS Guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
16 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or equivalentExperience working with children and / or teensFlexibility and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as neededFirst Aid / CPR certification preferredPrevious customer service experienceExperience with computers and point of sale systems is preferredSKILLS REQUIRED :

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT :
Occasional light lifting.Long periods of sitting.Extensive use of computers and telephones.Good lighting, temperature, and noise control.Normal working day consists of a maximum of 7.5 hours; however, occasional extended hours may be required.HEALTH & SAFETY :
