The incumbent will be responsible for HVAC staff management, overall department goals, KPI’s, and successful completion of all commercial / retail / residential HVAC projects .

You will be an integral part of the leadership team delivering successful projects throughout Atlantic Canada. Frequent travel to project areas will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of dedicated staff who are responsible for estimating, project management, equipment ordering, scheduling of resources, engineering and design, scope of work development, and all aspects of field installations and quality control.
  • Manage the department budgets, lead the estimating and project management team to achieve HVAC margin and profitability objectives.
  • Provide leadership in overall department planning including human & capital resources, production and scheduling goals, developing key planning initiatives, and ensuring accountability for goals and KPI’s.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects, utilize previous experience and formal training to ensure compliance with company processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate the quality and consistency of the construction process, including estimating, project management, resource scheduling, cash flow forecasting, and communication with external resources.
  • Develop and manage the process for project review and approvals with Senior Management.
  • Identify, manage and minimize risks associated with challenging project variables throughout entire project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present status reports to the (TBA) as requested.
  • Ensure all HVAC project sites meet Valley Refrigeration & Air Conditioning and provincial workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Represent Valley Refrigeration & Air Conditioning with Clients, General Contractors and other entities in the HVAC industry.

Qualifications

Mechanical Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist or Certified Journeyman with minimum 10 years’ progressive experience in senior commercial HVAC construction project management roles.

Must possess strong awareness of client needs in a commercial environment, excellent client liaison skills, project management and team leadership.

  • Must demonstrate extensive understanding of the HVAC construction industry, flexibility and a talent for negotiation.
  • Must possess proven construction experience in commercial / retail HVAC construction project completion, combined with excellent analytical abilities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the construction documentation process combined with the ability to understand and interpret bid documents, construction contracts.
  • Must be familiar with MS Office, MS Teams, and industry standard estimating and project management software.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Project Management Institute PMP designation is considered an asset
