Job Summary
As an Investment Counsellor ("IC") and a key member of our professional Wealth Management Team, you will construct and implement customized solutions for high-net-worth ("HNW") clients based on an in depth understanding of their needs and objectives.
Located in our Vancouver or Victoria offices, you will join our team of over 125 highly qualified ICs coast-to-coast who enjoy a merited reputation of integrity, investment insight, personalized client service and a tailored approach to discretionary wealth management focused on our clients' unique needs and complex circumstances.
Job Description
What will you do?
- Build both internal and external networks to capitalize on business opportunities.
- Develop, document, and maintain an ongoing profile for each HNW client including next steps to solidify this key relationship.
- Applying your business development skills, you will develop and achieve business plan objectives including key people, markets, and partnering initiatives.
- Construct customized wealth management strategies, proposals and actions plans for existing and potential clients.
- Deliver quality advice to clients by keeping current on product, industry, investment, tax and legislative developments.
- Partner with RBC wealth management specialists to offer personal estate and financial planning and business succession planning solutions to HNW clients.
- Leverage full RBC Financial Group capabilities, including specialized sales force, alternative delivery channels and service partners.
- Participate in high profile community, center of influence and charitable events.
- Ensure all client documentation meets regulatory compliance requirements.

What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Current licensing as an Advising Representative ("AR").
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or CIM® designation.
- An established client base and external network.
- Minimum 5 years investment industry experience, specifically discretionary portfolio management.
- Strong entrepreneurial experience with solid relationship management experience.
- Ability to manage complex personal and family dynamics.
- Proven sales and marketing experience and demonstrated social media presence.
Nice to Have
- University Degree in a related field (Business and / or Economics).
- Financial Planning Designation (e.g., CFP, PFP, RFP).
- Other professional designations (e.g., CA, LLB, LLQP)
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

This position is compensated based on production generated by you or your team.
This position may be eligible to receive a discretionary / variable incentive payment.
