Role Overview
The Junior Accountant / Accountant will support assurance and accounting engagements for owner-managed businesses and other clients. This role is ideal for someone beginning their public accounting career or an experienced accountant seeking continued development in a professional services environment. You will work closely with senior team members while gaining exposure to a broad range of client files.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of compilation and review engagements.
Prepare working papers, financial statements, and supporting schedules in accordance with ASPE.
Support audit and assurance engagements as required.
Perform account reconciliations and analytical procedures.
Assist with corporate and personal tax return preparation, where applicable.
Maintain organized and accurate client files.
Communicate with clients to obtain information and respond to inquiries.
Collaborate with senior accountants and managers to meet engagement deadlines.
Stay current with accounting standards and firm methodologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in a public accounting environment.
Enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (or intent to enroll) is preferred.
Familiarity with CaseWare, CaseView, Taxprep, or similar public accounting software is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a client-service environment.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Team-oriented attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow.
