We securely capture and preserve the communications data of the world's most highly regulated firms, giving them greater visibility and control over their information and ensuring compliance with stringent regulations.

Though we offer competitive compensation and benefits and all the other perks one would expect from an established company, we are not your typical technology company. Global Relay is a career-building company. A place for big ideas. New challenges. Groundbreaking innovation. It's a place where you can genuinely make an impact – and be recognized for it.

We believe great businesses thrive on diversity, inclusion, and the contributions of all employees. To that end, we recruit candidates from different backgrounds and foster a work environment that encourages employees to collaborate and learn from each other, completely free of barriers.

You will review work prepared by other members of the Financial Reporting team, prepare more senior and technical complex analyses and tasks, research accounting issues, and take a hands-on role in year-end audits, monthly/quarterly/annual reporting and other ad hoc financial analyses.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage the successful completion of financial month end close. Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate completion of month-end milestones, working cross-functionally with the Financial Reporting, Tax, AP, Billing, and Payroll teams
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reporting packages for key stakeholders
  • Supervise the timely preparation and posting of financial transactions throughout the month.
  • Coordinate and oversee timely and accurate monthly analysis and reporting of variances between actual and budgeted revenues, margins, capital expenditures and recommend any corrective measures required to contain variances
  • Drive a culture of operational efficiency and reporting accuracy, focused on continually reducing reporting lead times
  • Champion data integrity and continuous enhancement of reporting systems, ensuring consistency across global entities
  • Interpret and apply complex accounting standards for new or unusual transactions; provide recommendations and document conclusions
  • Maintain and enhance the company's accounting policies, ensuring compliance with changes in accounting standards or regulatory requirements
  • Develop, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators on a timely basis to senior management
  • Prepare and review working papers and analysis for monthly financial reporting, annual audit requirements and bank reporting requirements for compliance purposes
  • Support complex revenue recognition analyses, including multi-element arrangements, subscription models, usage-based billing, and long-term contracts
  • Maintain and oversee statutory financial statement reporting requirements for Canadian entities and foreign subsidiaries (US, UK, Sweden, Spain, Australia, Singapore, etc.)
  • Act as a main point of contact with external auditors and accounting service providers, responding to external requests and queries
  • Compile ad hoc data extracts and reports in response to various inquiries from management, customers, auditors, regulatory authorities and other government agencies
  • Prepare and review annual or ad hoc accounting memos and analyses as required
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and cash flow forecasts
  • Coach and share best practices with junior team members

About you:

  • Qualified professional accountant (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) with a strong work ethic and integrity
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting and finance in a role of similar level of responsibilities
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or other enterprise-scale cloud-based ERP systems is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS (or US GAAP) with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex accounting standards
  • Experience in full cycle accounting in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) subscription billing environment is an asset
  • Ability to navigate a dynamic, high-growth, technology-driven environment, while maintaining accuracy and control discipline
  • Experience in managing people and financial operations is an asset
  • Proven history of excellence and timeliness in external and internal financial reporting
  • Comfort working with large data sets, including the ability to validate, reconcile, and analyze data efficiently
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities with experience in researching and preparing technical accounting memos
  • Advanced level MS Excel proficiency, with advanced knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time
  • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and attention to detail
  • Clear understanding of financial KPIs for SaaS businesses
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to be entrusted with confidential information
