Unit Summary
The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated jointly by Hamilton Health Sciences and St.
Joseph's Hospital. The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research, to bring the highest quality science into health care for the benefit of the community, and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science.
Position Summary
- The Medical Secretary will provide secretarial support within Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program. Some responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, transcription of confidential medical reports, correspondence and procedures;
- assist in the preparation of statistics, research papers for publication; prepare committee material and take minutes; maintain electronic scheduling and booking patient referrals;
- administer and maintain financial records including travel expenses and Educational Trust Fund; maintain a variety of databases;
enter laboratory specimen information into Meditech database.

Qualifications
Graduate of Community College Medical Secretarial program or equivalent
2. Medical Terminology relating to Laboratory Medicine
3. Demonstrated proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
4. Demonstrated proficient computer skills in word processing, spread sheets and database systems, Meditech, Clinical Connect, MOSAIQ, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook Calendar, Windows, SharePoint
5. Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills within a professional environment
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
7. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and establish priorities
8. Experience within a Laboratory environment a strong asset
9. Demonstrated knowledge of Kronos and Internet design and maintenance, a strong asset
