Junior Hydrogeologist

WSP has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Hydrogeologist to join our mining Hydrogeology team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver BC.
Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, geology, geological engineering, engineering geology, environmental engineering or related discipline and an interest in working on hydrogeological projects in the mining industry.
A day in the life
- Travel to exciting domestic and international locations for fieldwork assignments in hydrogeology;
- Contribute to the planning, management, and reporting of hydrogeological field investigations, including drilling, sampling, well installation, and testing;
- Lead field crews in planning, logistics, and equipment calibration;
- Ensure personal and team safety during field operations;
- Manage data entry, analysis, and interpretation, demonstrating strong organizational skills in prioritization, time management, and record keeping;
- Conducting site investigations, such as :
- Installing monitoring wells, pumping wells, and vibrating wire piezometers;
- Undertaking hydrogeological test work (packer testing, pumping tests rising / falling head tests);
- Supervising drilling and logging drill core / chips;
- Sampling wells for water quality purposes;
- Data compilation, analysis and interpretation;
- Analyzing geological, geochemical, and geophysical data, including well logs, hydrogeological survey data, and groundwater monitoring data, to develop conceptual hydrogeological models;
- Developing and applying groundwater flow models to estimate inflows to open pits, underground mines and perform seepage analyses;
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hydrogeological findings and interpretations with those of other scientific, planning, and engineering disciplines;
- Contributing to technical reports, proposals and technical specifications.

What you'll bring to WSP
- A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Geology / Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering, with demonstrated course work or thesis in physical hydrogeology and / or geochemistry and geophysics
- An interest in developing work and project experience in hydrogeology within the mining industry

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations) : $53,900 - $91,700
WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to the specific geographic location.
