Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be established. This pool may be used to staff positions with similar qualifications, with a linguistic profile of bilingual Imperative BBB / BBB, various conditions of employment and / or various tenures including term appointments, indeterminate appointments, acting appointments and / or assignments.

CFIA will prioritize its own staffing needs, before sharing the pool with other government departments.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

EEd1 - Successful graduation from a post-secondary educational program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management or other specialization relevant to the position to be staffed.

The screening board will accept, at a minimum graduation from a two (2) year post-secondary program.

Employees in the CS occupational group at the CFIA who do not possess the education level prescribed above are deemed to meet the education requirement based on their education, training and experience.

Note to Public Service Employees outside of the CFIA :

Employees in the CS occupational group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education level prescribed above are deemed to meet the education requirement based on their education, training and experience.

Applicants submitting education credentials from a non-Canadian institution are responsible for obtaining certification that these credentials are the equivalent of the Canadian education level required for the position.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

EE1 - Minimum one (1) year experience* providing client or customer service.

Could include but not limited to IT experience.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

AEx1 - Experience providing IM / IT advice or guidance to customers, managers or clients.

Official languages proficiency will not be assessed for entry to the pool. Candidates entered in the pool will have an opportunity for assessment of their official languages proficiency if and when they are considered for an appointment.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Applicants who have not lived in Canada for the past five (or ten, depending on security level) years may be required to submit a police certificate from each country in which they have lived for six months or more during this period, as well as other documentation required for the security screening process.

Failure to submit this documentation if requested will eliminate the application from further consideration.
