What You’ll Do
- Lead engineering teams responsible for Edge Traffic Infrastructure, ensuring our networking architecture evolves and remains resilient to affirm’s growing needs.
- Define and deliver a vision, strategy, and roadmap on a year-long time scale for ingress and egress points of our system, tying that roadmap back to business impact.
- Collaborate across teams—infrastructure, security, and other engineering teams—to build reliable, secure, and scalable networking infrastructure that meets the needs of our external partners and internal teams.
- Improve key metrics for availability, performance, and resiliency.
- Take ownership of your team’s operations and availability by ensuring the right monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing and alerting are in place to support on‑call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting code review and design standards and advocating for them beyond your team through writing and tech talks.
- Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
What We Look For
7+ years of engineering experience with 2+ years leading teams focused on infrastructure, networking, compute, or distributed systems.Proven track record in stakeholder management, ownership, and successful delivery.Expertise in managing large‑scale, geographically distributed cloud infrastructure systems centered on compute, networking, or databases.Expertise in scaling networking infrastructure like CDN, Load Balancers, or API Gateways. Familiarity with cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure and vendors like Cloudflare, Fastly, or Akamai.Experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality in a system through the definition of a technical and execution plan. Write high‑quality code that is easily understood and used by others.Thriving in ambiguity, comfortable moving from low‑level language idioms to the architecture of large systems to understand how they work.Growth and impact trajectory demonstrating mastery in gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross‑functional peers.Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.Pay Grade – 9
Equity Grade – 7
Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents).
CAN base pay range per year : $178,000 – $228,000 .
