Position : Director of Health Services

Component / Team : Health Services

Status : Permanent, 1.0 FTE Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Salary Scale : $99,263 - $119,610 annualized salary plus benefits

Start Date : Immediately

Position Description :

The Director of Health Services is responsible for all aspects of the Health Services and Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Management (HPCDM) Components.

The Director works closely with all stakeholders to ensure the efficacy, efficiency and effectiveness of the program. The Director of Health Services is responsible, through the management team, for the overall strategic and operational management of the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre.

Reporting Relationship :

The Director of Health Services is directly accountable to the Executive Director. The Director is responsible for meeting the licensing and regulatory requirements of their professional governing body, if one exists.

Requirements

Skills, Education and Experience :

Requirements for this position include :

Education and Language

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration or a comparable field
  • A clinical background in medicine, nursing or health promotion or a related field
  • Under the Centre’s designation to provide French Language Services :
  • French (oral expression) : Advanced
  • French (oral comprehension) : Advanced
  • French (reading comprehension) : Intermediate +
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in managerial and program development positions in a health environment
  • Experience in managing and working with a multi-disciplinary team including medical and allied health professionals
  • Experience managing programs for people with complex health and social needs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, management and supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of the community-based health system
  • Knowledge of the broad range of health determinants.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and program evaluation methodology
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated skills in partnership development and stakeholder relations
  • A commitment to a cooperative approach to problem solving

Conditions of Employment :

Hours of work will be developed in collaboration with the successful candidate to ensure a healthy work-life balance. A schedule of work will be based on the Centre’s hours of operation and program requirements and may include some evenings.
