Clinical Research Nurse (RN) – Brenda and David McLean Integrated Spine Clinic
The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 / Hr. – CAD $55.91 / Hr.
Come work as a Registered Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at the Brenda and David McLean Integrated Spine Clinic, Vancouver General Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients in clinic, acute care wards, intensive care units, operating rooms and the emergency room for entry into clinical research studies.
- Participate in clinical research trials in accordance with approved protocols and ethics guidelines.
- Act as a member of an interdisciplinary research and patient care team.
- Liaise with internal and external sources to obtain required research approvals, report side effects, and provide documentation to patients and other healthcare professionals about the protocol.
- Preparation of study documents including informed consent, ethics submissions, patient screening.
- Collection and management of study data and specimens, completion of all case report forms, and administration of study treatment.
- Participate in investigator and study coordinator meetings and training sessions.
- Ensure all work meets FDA / PHC standards and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
Education & Experience
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).One year of recent, related nursing experience, including experience as a research / study coordinator with industry‑sponsored trials and / or high‑acuity or critical‑care nursing experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client / family‑centered model of care.Broad knowledge of BCCNM's standards for nurse researchers.Broad knowledge of research methodology and ethics.Self‑direction and organizational skills.Consultative and collaborative communication with interdisciplinary teams.Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently.Effective oral and written communication.Adaptability to new or unexpected situations.Counselling and teaching skills for clients and families.Competency in medical equipment and supplies appropriate to the area.Word‑processing, spreadsheet and database skills.CPR proficiency.Physical ability to perform job duties.The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
