What you can expect to do here
Participate in the design of plans, preliminary estimations and details for transportation, commercial, and industrial building projects.Electrical design for building power distribution, fire alarm, grounding, lightning protection, emergency power and life safety generator systems.Provide day‑to‑day guidance to the design team, be the design lead for their projects, and represent WSP to clients.Prepare calculations, conceptual and detailed design, technical specifications, installation details, and permit / tender / post‑tender services.Provide contract administration services—review shop drawings, RFIs, etc.—and work with Project Managers, senior engineers, designers, and 3D modelers to submit projects for permit and tender.What you’ll bring to WSP
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and registered P.Eng.10–15 years of experience designing electrical systems for transportation, commercial, and industrial building projects, including power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, fire protection, lightning protection, arc‑flash study, emergency power, and life safety.Complete understanding of building electrical engineering requirements, codes and standards, including but not limited to Ontario Building Codes (OBC), OESC, CEC, CSA, NFPA, IEEE, ASHRAE, etc.Strong technical background to guide and mentor intermediate and junior engineers.Experience liaising with contractors to defend electrical designs.Ability to review and prepare installation details, provide technical calculations and specifications.Experience reviewing design and providing quality control for all design packages prior to submission.Seniority level
