Kitchen Worker, London Coffee House Program Support I - (OPSEU) Full-Time, Contract (Approximately 1 year) London, Ontario (London Zone) - Application Deadline : November 7, 2024 - The London Coffee House drop-in program fosters a vibrant community of individuals who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, promoting a welcoming and non-judgmental culture and providing a reprieve from the stigma so often felt in other community settings.
Our team supports clients with anything they might need - from a drink and a snack, access to internet, phone, and laundry facilities, and on-site mental health and addictions groups to connections with broader community supports.
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be delivered and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

61 per hour (Level 1 of the Program Support I Grid) ; Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8, $26.
54 per hour Internal applicants will be placed on the grid based on their seniority When you'll work - 70 hours over a two-week period;
rotating days, evenings and weekends Your pension plan Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) HOW YOU'LL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE : Assist in the day-to-day operations of a busy lunch program for 60-70 women Assist with weekly grocery shopping and meal preparation services for clients Assists with implementing weekly and monthly meal plans for meal program Prepare and serve meals Ensure kitchen is cleaned (in accordance with health unit regulations) bathrooms, showers are cleaned, floors are mopped and other rooms are tidy Assist with distribution of food donations Assist with providing nutritious morning snack & coffee Assist with the coordination of showers, laundry, and day bed service for clients Communicate effectively with diverse clientele Receive donations from the public on behalf of the organization, that are delivered to the My Sisters’ Place site WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY : Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.

We require the following qualifications : Safe Food Handling course Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide Have excellent organizational and time management skills Demonstrated ability to work within a kitchen environment We prefer the following qualifications : Drivers licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance that can be used to carry out job duties 1-2 years’ experience in not-for profit agencies Knowledge of mental illness, addiction, and co-occurring complex issues Bilingual both official languages, preferred;
