Job Description
Our client is currently looking for a Municipal & Utility engineers of various experience levels in our Downtown Toronto Office to join our established and growing team!
You will be engaged in the design of water distribution (watermains), storm and sanitary sewer systems to support roads, facilities, environmental and transit assignments.
You will be directly involved and / or responsible for the collection and review of field data; technical analysis; completion of concept, preliminary and detailed design of storm, sanitary and watermains including the preparation of drawings, calculations, reports, specifications / contract documents and cost estimates.
Responsibilities
- Actively contribute to engineering design assignments in a team environment on a wide variety of multidisciplinary project teams;
- Provide field support with project field inspections, construction inspection and administration, as assigned;
- Collaborate with internal project team, reporting on project status, issues and mitigations;
- Design and drafting of conceptual, preliminary and detailed design engineering drawings for municipal projects (storm, sanitary and watermains) within both public and private sites in accordance with project specifications and budget allowance;
- Develop various drawings to support design development including but not limited to plan & profiles, typical and site-specific sections / details, issued for construction, as-builts / record drawings;
- Preparation of engineering design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and construction specifications;
- Draft and deliver design narratives, technical reports and other project related documentation;
- Collects, reviews and incorporates municipal design standards, civil and third-party utility layouts and related reference materials in preparing designs;
- Prepares and submits permit applications to regulatory and municipal agencies as applicable;
- Develops and maintains relationships with project team, client and external stakeholders;
- Maintains, tracks and updates project design records and files;
- Performs related duties and tasks as assigned or required.
Education Experience :
Required Education Experience :
- 5 10+ Years of experience;
- BS. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering or related field of practice is required;
- Proficiency with watermain and sewer design calculations;
- Registered or future eligibility for registration with PEO as a P.Eng.;
- Strong communication and technical writing skills;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Working knowledge of drafting software including AutoCAD & Microstation;
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley Open Roads software related to sewer and watermain modelling is an asset;
- Knowledge of industry standards, permitting / approval processes, and various delivery models;
- Preferred familiarity with MECP, Conservation Authorities, lower tier, and upper tier municipalities approvals processes.
Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship required for this position. No relocation assistance will be provided for this position.
