Job Description
Aramark is recruiting a Controller to manage the accounting and financial operations of our Culinary, Hotel and Conference Centre services at the Schulich School of Business Executive Learning Centre at York University.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Controller manages all operational financial assets to achieve maximum profitability and financial stability.
The Controller has overall responsibility for the commercial success and customer satisfaction of all financial related matters within the Schulich Executive Learning Centre.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall accounting and financial operations of the Executive Learning Centre including A / P, A / R, G / L and Payroll that includes salaried staff and hourly unionized employees
- Responsible for the management of all aspects of accounting including forecasts, cash handling, budgets, month end and year end P&L statements
- Works closely with the General Manager, Director of Food Service, and the Executive Chef regarding costs, labour forecasting, and food and beverage strategy
- In conjunction with the Executive Chef, manages food and labour costs to budget
- Works closely with Aramark, Schulich School of Business, and York University accounting departments and provides weekly and monthly reports for review
- Conducts training as needed and as required
- Maintains positive client relationships for all financial reporting

Qualifications
- A university degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- A Professional Accountant certification (CPA) or similar is required
- 5+ years' experience in an accounting role in the hotel, conference, or tourism industry
- 3-5 years management experience is preferred
- Overall knowledge and understanding of hotel accommodations and food and beverage accounting including food quality, production, food ordering, receiving, and menu design in all outlets
- A full understanding of Point of Sale (POS), OPERA Property Management System
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and sound judgment skills to report to key stakeholders
- Must be flexible and willing to assist other departments with operational tasks as required
