WHAT'S THE JOB?
The Sandwich Maker is an integral member of the culinary team. Working night shifts, the Sandwich Maker prepares a wide variety of sandwich and specialty items to fulfill the bagged lunch program. The Sandwich Maker will work with culinary leads to present attractive and well-prepared products each day.
The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a Nunavut camp setting with the following amenities :
- All meals and accommodations are provided
- Travel is provided to and from the site locations from a designated hub location in Edmonton, AB
- Private room with cable television
- Access to Wi-Fi
- Access to laundry facilities and detergents
- Access to a gym and common areas
Key Responsibilities :
Maintaining a safe working environment at all timesProviding excellent and consistent service for all guests using the KDR facilitiesMaintaining a clean and organized workstation throughout the shiftPreparing all hot and cold items required for the daily bagged lunch program. Items include, but are not limited to :Deli and specialty sandwiches as per daily production requirements
All preparations required for each day’s production (compounds such as egg salad or cooked items used for specialty sandwiches)Other required menu items as directedEnsuring that food safety requirements are being followedCompleting all HACCP and Production logs as requiredLabelling and dating of all products prepared for service as requiredRemoving all used pots, pans, utensils, etc., to ware washing areaPerforming end-of-shift cleaning, sweeping, and mopping of workstationCompleting all weekly and monthly cleaning tasks as scheduledRemoving garbage from workstation as requiredReceiving and storing all supplies (food, beverage, chemical and paper / disposable)Assisting with any other tasks as assigned by supervisorQualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Current Food Safe certification is requiredLarge-scale cooking in camp settings, banquet halls and / or hotels is a strong assetPrevious experience in a sandwich maker role at a mass-production level is preferredAbility to commit to a 4 week on / 2 week off rotationA team-player who is committed to providing client satisfactionBe able to handle the following physical demands :Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
Climb ladders or stairsStand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of timePerform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both handsPerform work with arms at full lengthWork with arms above shoulder heightAdditional Information

Sandwich Makers work on a rotational schedule of 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring air travel to site from Edmonton, AB. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $19.50-$21.50, dependent on level of experience.
