Senior Financial Analyst / Financial Analyst, FP&A

As the Senior Financial Analyst / Financial Analyst , you will support the FP&A and Strategic Finance team in owning department-level budget and forecast processes and business, all while partnering with various function owners (including ad hoc financial modeling).

The Senior Financial Analyst / Financial Analyst will also own the Insurance claims and coverage process.

The position is flexible and we are open to either a Senior Financial Analyst or Financial Analyst, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

About The Team

We are a hybrid team which means you will required to work in the office 3 days per week. The days are flexible to your choosing.

What You’ll Do

Budget and forecasts

  • Cross-functional Collaboration : Collaborate extensively with other departments (called Functions at Article), contributing to a holistic organizational approach to financial planning
  • Assist in the development of departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Own and run meetings with function owners with respect to function / department budgets.
  • Variance reports are shared with function owners in advance of meetings, which reconcile to financials
  • Approaches the re-forecasts and budget process with a continuous improvement mindset

Business Partnership

  • Strategic Partnerships : Build strategic partnerships within the organization to align financial activities with broader business objectives.
  • Play a key role in the development and execution of strategic financial plans, aligning financial activities with overall organizational objectives.

Ad hoc analysis

Financial Modelling : Conduct thoughtful, detailed, and considered analysis on highly complex ad hoc requirements, providing insights into trends, variances, and potential areas for improvement.

Analysis is concluded with 'so what' impact, and recommendations for stakeholders. Provide meaningful narratives alongside financial reports to contextualize financial data and assist in decision-making processes

Reporting : Generate accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring data integrity and clarity for stakeholders

Insurance

On an ongoing basis, work with a Broker to :

  • Ensure we maintain sufficient and appropriate insurance coverage to manage risk
  • Ensure our coverage is at competitive market rates
  • Manage insurance claims process on behalf of Article
  • Work with a Broker to complete annual insurance renewal including providing brokers with information to support renewal with manager support

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or other related field
  • 3 - 5 years experience in FP&A or related field (with experience in financial modeling, financial analysis, data analysis
  • Knowledge / experience in PowerQuery, PowerPivot, macros, etc
  • Progress towards CPA, CFA, or other designation is a plus
  • Previous experience with an e-commerce or retail company is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills, able to translate the impact of analysis to the business
  • Excellent Excel skills (macros, arrays, power pivots, power queries, lookups, index, etc)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with G-suite / Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Completion of criminal background check

The expected salary is $70,000 to $90,000. The actual base pay can increase beyond this range and will be based on various factors, including transferable skills, training and certifications, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
