Computer Network Technician
Join the Lakeland Catholic School Division as a Computer Network Technician to support reliable, secure technology systems across our schools and division sites. This full‑time, central office position (Tech Shop) is located in Bonnyville, Alberta and works closely with the IT team to keep networks and services available, safe, and responsive.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network connectivity (LAN / WAN), wireless networks, and internet services across division sites.
- Configure, deploy, and support network equipment (switches, access points, firewalls, routers).
- Assist with network security practices (patching, access controls, logging / monitoring, incident response support).
- Support server and core infrastructure functions (authentication services, DHCP / DNS, VLANs, backups).
- Provide technical support related to network services for staff and schools, including timely troubleshooting and follow‑up.
- Support VOIP and related communications systems where applicable.
- Assist with device connectivity and management (workstations, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, classroom technology).
- Maintain accurate documentation (network diagrams, configurations, asset tracking, change logs, procedures).
- Participate in planned maintenance, upgrades, and after‑hours work when required to reduce service disruption.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers, including coordinating warranty work and service tickets.

Qualifications, Experience & Assets
Diploma or certificate in Computer Network Technology, Information Technology, or a related field.Practical experience supporting enterprise or multi‑site networks (education or public sector experience is an asset).Working knowledge of network fundamentals (routing / switching, VLANs, DHCP / DNS, wireless), including experience with Fortinet (FortiGate firewalls, FortiVoice) and Ubiquiti UniFi (switches, access points, controllers).Network troubleshooting tools and practices.Windows‑based environments and common endpoint connectivity issues.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and respectfully.Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel between sites.Additional Requirements
