Title : Electric Motor System Technician
Location : Ontario

An Electric Motor System Technician is a specialized technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electric motor systems and related equipment.
These systems are integral to a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, HVAC, automotive, and renewable energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities :
Installation :
Install electric motors and related systems, ensuring that they are properly connected and aligned.
Integrate electric motors into existing systems, including pumps, fans, conveyors, and other machinery.
Maintenance and Inspection :
Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electric motors, drives, and control systems.
Lubricate and clean motor components to ensure smooth operation and prevent wear.
Check motor windings, bearings, and electrical connections for signs of wear or malfunction.
Troubleshooting and Repair :
Diagnose issues with electric motors, control systems, and drives.
Repair or replace faulty motor components, including bearings, stators, rotors, and control boards.
Use specialized tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and vibration analyzers to detect electrical and mechanical problems.
System Optimization :
Optimize motor performance by adjusting parameters or settings to improve energy efficiency.
Upgrade older systems with more energy-efficient motors or controllers.
Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Provide reports on system performance and recommend improvements.
Safety Compliance :
Adhere to safety procedures when working with high-voltage systems and rotating machinery.
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that work areas are properly secured.
Skills and Qualifications :
Technical Knowledge :
Strong understanding of electric motor theory, electrical circuits, and control systems.
Familiarity with motor drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and automation systems.
Mechanical and Electrical Skills :
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues (e.g., bearing wear) and electrical issues (e.g., circuit faults).
Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
Problem-Solving :
Strong troubleshooting abilities to quickly identify and resolve motor system failures.
Safety and Regulatory Knowledge :
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E (electrical safety), and other industry standards.
Training and Education :
Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent; many positions also require formal training, such as an apprenticeship or vocational certification in electrical technology, motor repair, or a related field.
Certification programs like those offered by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) can be an asset.
Physical Stamina :
