Calgary Animal Referral & Emergency Centre (CARE) is welcoming a full-time Summer Contract Emergency Veterinarian to add to our growing team. This could turn into a full-time permanent position come fall, pending the applicant.

We promote the values of a collegial and team-based approach to medicine, excellent client service, continuing education, and work-life balance. As a full-service emergency and referral hospital, our emergency service treats an exciting and diverse caseload, inspiring lifelong learning and growth. Our Emergency Veterinarians work closely with the Specialty services to deliver the highest standard of medicine.

There are endless opportunities for professional development, including teaching of interns and UCVM students, formal mentorship of interns, in-house continuing education events, and opportunities to assume other ancillary roles and committee positions. A full complement of on-site diagnostics includes digital radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, in-house lab, endoscopy, CT, and MRI.

Schedule: All of our Emergency Veterinarians rotate equally through day, evening, and night shifts regardless of tenure.

As our ideal Candidate, you have:

• A valid veterinarian license allowing practice in Canada

• Experience in soft tissue surgical procedures, preventative care, and offering nutritional advice.

• Dedicated to promoting team-based medicine practices

• Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues, pet parents, and the community

• A passion for coaching and mentoring students along their DVM journey

• An interest in attending conferences and networking with colleagues

• A love for all companion animals!!
