Overall, as an Information Security Officer, you are tasked with protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Government of Alberta's (GoA) information assets.
You are responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, detecting, investigating, researching, and responding to vulnerabilities, threats and incidents impacting the security of information assets.
You will support the GoA's Information Security Management Directives (ISMD) and contribute to the safe operation of the GoA computing environment.
You may also be responsible for participating in or coordinating the development and implementation of security controls, including cyber security technology, processes, policy instruments, and awareness materials.
Your responsibilities include :
- Providing information security advice to stakeholders
- Participating in projects as an information security subject matter expert
- Participating in the identification of information security requirements, as well as the development of strategies and solutions to meet these requirements
- Facilitating or performing identification, assessment, and treatment of information and technology security vulnerabilities, threats and risks
- Ensuring that risks are documented in the Government of Alberta's Information Technology Security Risk Register
- Communicating cyber threat information to stakeholders
- Performing vulnerability, cyber threat or cyber security controls related research as requested by Cybersecurity Services management
