Social Worker Assistant - Community Support Program

Reporting to the Program Manager of the Community Supports Program, the primary purpose of this position is to assist the Community Support Team in the day-to-day provision and coordination of activities necessary for effective case management.

The Social Worker Assistant is responsible for the provision of distinct administrative and supportive services to clients receiving interventions and services from Community Supports Program, Labrador-Grenfell Zone.

These activities include, but are not limited to; preparing financial requests, soliciting information on behalf of case managers;

arranging / organizing supportive services; assisting clients with completion of forms and providing supervision of clients, as per program policies and standards, as required by the collaborative team.

The social worker assistant also provides assistance to clients and families, in the areas of health navigation and supporting virtual care.

Qualifications :

• Graduation from high school, supplemented by three (3) years of post-secondary education in the social science field;
• a minimum of one (1) year experience working with clients and families;
• Knowledge of Community Support Programs;

Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particular Microsoft Word) is essential.

• Effective time management, communication, organization and interpersonal skills are essential;
• Has an ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse and challenging environment;
• Has a commitment to the delivery of quality services to clients;
• Candidates are expected to work collaboratively with team members and community;
• Candidates should hold a valid driver's license;
• Use of a private vehicle is required;

The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties (includes but not limited to) :

• Provides quality service for clients requiring Community Support Programs and / or other support services;
• Completes assessments;
• Advocates for client services;
• Coordinates service provision;
• Assists in community capacity building;
• Managing caseloads;
• Preparing and analyzing reports;

Other related duties.

Salary :

CG- 29 of the NAPE-HS salary scales, $26.54 to $29.48 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work :

75 hours bi-weekly (by mutual agreement). Variable shifts may apply.
