Responsibilities :
Operate excavators (track or hydraulic) for digging, trenching, backfilling, and material handlingPerform daily pre-use machine inspections and routine maintenanceSafely position and maneuver loads, ensuring site coordinationAccurately follow site plans, grade stakes, and directions from supervisorsAdhere to all site safety protocols and report hazards promptlyMaintain tidy work zones and protect equipment from damageQualifications & Must Haves :
Heavy Equipment Operator ticket or equivalent certification from a recognized BC training provider (e.g., PTIB-approved)Courses typically include excavator operation, safety theory, and practical assessmentsSafety tickets : CSTS, WHMIS, and Ground Disturbance Level 2 are commonly requiredAdditional certifications like First Aid, TDG, or H2S are considered assetsCompletion of a heavy equipment operator apprenticeship or training program (12 years)Proven experience operating excavators in construction or civil environmentsNice to Haves (But Not Necessary) :
