Therapy Assistant – Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program
Join Alberta’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre (NLRHC). In this role you will work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team under audiologist supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform newborn hearing screenings using automated equipment.
- Prioritize infants based on protocol.
- Communicate with parents to explain procedures, obtain consent, share results and provide follow‑up information.
- Document results in medical records and refer abnormal cases.
- Collaborate with nursing and other allied health professionals.
- Maintain infection control standards and handle infants safely.
- Troubleshoot equipment and manage supply inventory.
- Attend training outlining the EHDI program and strict guidelines / protocols for testing.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills and basic computer proficiency.
- Reassure newborns and parents throughout the screening process.

Completion of a diploma from an accredited post‑secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training.Additional Required Qualifications
Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP).Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting.Previous experience working with newborns and their parents.Compensation and Allowance
Competitive rate of pay with a Fort McMurray Allowance of up to $12,480 per year (non‑pensionable, payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay).
