Therapy Assistant – Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program

Join Alberta’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre (NLRHC). In this role you will work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team under audiologist supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform newborn hearing screenings using automated equipment.
• Prioritize infants based on protocol.
• Communicate with parents to explain procedures, obtain consent, share results and provide follow‑up information.
• Document results in medical records and refer abnormal cases.
• Collaborate with nursing and other allied health professionals.
• Maintain infection control standards and handle infants safely.
• Troubleshoot equipment and manage supply inventory.
• Attend training outlining the EHDI program and strict guidelines / protocols for testing.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Reassure newborns and parents throughout the screening process.

Compensation and Allowance

Competitive rate of pay with a Fort McMurray Allowance of up to $12,480 per year (non‑pensionable, payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay).

Location

Fort McMurray – located on Treaty 8 territory and on the traditional lands of the Métis. The city offers a family‑forward atmosphere with many recreational, cultural and natural attractions.
