OVERVIEW :
The Catering & Events Manager is responsible for the operation of all Catering & Events that occur at the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites.
The position involves managing the day of event as well as the pre event planning / preparation, post event billing and guest feedback.
In this role you will work closely with clients to ensure their needs are exceeded and act as the on-site contact for all group conveners, ensuring their needs and requirements are met from the point of planning, to execution and follow up, and all points in between.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build creative menus and design floor plans for events
- Handle requests from clients that are necessary to facilitate their function successfully, confirming electrical, internet, telecommunications, audio-visual and exhibition requirements based on discussions with clients
- Prepare sales contracts, event orders and conference resumes
- Work with Sales to ensure proper coordination and distribution of applicable information concerning convention clients
- Conduct daily walk-throughs of the function areas to meet / greet clients and ensure their needs are being met
- Generate business via direct face-to face sales calls, telephone, and written correspondence, including walk in inquires and site inspections
- Act as a liaison between client and internal hotel personnel to ensure maximum guest satisfaction
- Manage monthly financial statements, billing, forecasts and budgets
- Be available as requested for special duties dictated by clients’ needs or those of the hotel
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years Catering / Conference Services or Sales experience
- Previous leadership experience within a similar role required
- University / College degree in a related discipline preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Must work well under pressure, and be flexible with hours of work. Position require attendance of functions
