Our client is an Indigenous group that provides governance and a broad range of services and programs for their people. They are financially solid, well-funded and in need of an assessment of their infrastructure, systems and software from a qualified professional.
The organization is looking to elevate the level of its IT leadership who will build a small team to support a few locations with forward-looking technology strategies, knowledge / opinions of cloud-based options and perspectives on other technology trends.
Additionally, will provide desktop support with patience, new system implementation expertise, and coaching / mentoring to a small team.
Reporting to senior leadership, the IT Manager will lead and oversee the effective assessment and delivery of essential technology and infrastructure services, demonstrating strong leadership across multiple technical disciplines.
These include systems, network, security, telephony, physical and virtual infrastructure, Microsoft operating systems, storage, virtualization, backup solutions and operations, disaster recovery, and management of vendors.
Ensuring consistent, reliable uptime in the context of a multi-office environment with some remote locations and users will be a key priority of this manager, as will ensuring a high degree of cyber security protection.
Based in or near Edmonton, AB, the new manager will undertake a comprehensive systems assessment for the organization, make recommendations for new / different options (server-based vs cloud computing, software packages, applications, etc.
and provide business cases for recommended changes / upgrades. This process will require a consultative, collaborative approach and some forensic analysis of past practices to ensure transitions are seamless.
There will be significant autonomy in this role and travel is estimated at about 40%. The new IT Manager will be in a position to significantly impact the evolution of an Indigenous nation as they grow and expand.
The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success in managing IT infrastructure, server administration, network operations, and desktop support within a small to medium-sized organization, preferably with multiple location experience.
Experience with core business systems, including ERP, financial systems and collaboration tools is a prerequisite. Technical proficiency in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting server environments is required.
A deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing, is essential.
Candidates should have strong knowledge of virtualization technologies. Experience with implementing and managing cyber security protocols and solutions, such as firewalls, intrusion detection / prevention systems, and antivirus software, is also necessary.
Additionally, candidates will be strategic thinkers with can-do attitudes, patient relationship-builders, and clear communicators.
