Vice President, Operational Resilience Lead
Job Summary
What is the opportunity?
You will be accountable for the implementation and development of the Global Operational Resilience Program for Capital Markets ( CM’).
You will ensure Business Lines meet the required level of resilience, conforming to RBC policy, regulatory compliance imperatives and industry standards for all facets of Operational Resilience, including Incident Management, Crisis Management, and linkage to Business Continuity Management and Disaster Recovery Planning.
You will act as a senior professional advisor to Group Heads and business line heads to this end.
You will also support Operational Resilience regional leads, in Europe and APAC, with the identification of Critical Services and associated dependencies, as well as facilitate development of the high-level recovery strategies and tactical plans, pertaining to the Operational Resilience Program, in alignment and liaison with Business Continuity Management leads.
What will you do?
- Lead and facilitate the over-arching Capital Markets’ adherence to the Enterprise Operational Resilience Standard requirements, including :
- Ongoing maintenance and development of a global Service Inventory, including descriptions and associated Service Owners, Subject Matter Experts, and key supporting employees in the front to back delivery for each Service.
- Ongoing facilitation and evolution of Harm Assessments for each Service, including increased read-across, consistency of application and continued stakeholder understanding and engagement.
This also includes the facilitation and continued development of appropriate, risk-aware Impact Tolerance Statements.
- Ongoing maintenance and evolution of Dependency Mapping information, including applications / suppliers, technological infrastructure / Critical Environments, human resources and physical locations.
- Facilitation of global Scenario Testing, including maintenance and evolution of the Scenario Universe, and the identification of plausible but severe scenarios to adequately test the resilience of scenarios and supplier engagements.
This includes the identification, documenting and tracking of issues and actions from Scenario Testing.
- Creation of the annual Operational Resilience Self-Assessment document, including appropriate review and sign-offs aligned to the governance requirements set out in the Standard.
- Maintain and develop awareness of, and engagement for, the CM Operational Resilience program across all levels of seniority, including global business heads.
- Attend and actively participate in external forums (globally) and seek continued understanding of peer practices in the Operational Resilience space and communicate this back to CM Senior Management for consideration and implementation into CM practices and / or Enterprise Standards.
This includes active participation and ongoing development of industry events, such as wider scenario table-tops beyond RBC.
Liaise with GRM Operational Resilience, Advisory and Oversight, and other GRM / Compliance partners to support continued evolution and maturity for Operational Resilience across RBC.
This includes close liaison with other first line Operational Resilience partners in other Segments, to share learnings, and develop practices as one RBC.
- Manage any Regulatory or Audit-related inquiries and associated findings.
- Develop and enhance the Management Information as it pertains to Operational Resilience, considering KRIs, ongoing metrics and supplementary information to support and monitor CM’s Operational Resilience posture, capabilities and vulnerabilities.
- Support and develop the linkage and integration between the Operational Resilience discipline and other Programs, such as Business Continuity, Third Party Risk, Global Cyber Security, IT Risk, Corporate Real Estate, and Critical Environments.
What you need to succeed?
- Business Degree preferred, with minimum 5 years related Financial Services experience / Business Continuity propositions and frameworks.
- Good knowledge of Operational Resilience and / or Business Continuity Management industry best practices.
- Solid written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
- Good knowledge of Capital Markets products and services, including understanding of front to back service provision will be nice to have.
- Enquiring mind-set with the ability to think analytically.
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented. Ability to handle multiple tasks / priorities.
- Strong client focus and effective teamwork approach.
- Strong relationship-building, facilitation and team-building skills across all management levels.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Microsoft Office Product Suite.
- General IT awareness.
