Position Title : Rail Loader
Location : 5500 North Service Road E., Windsor, ON
Shift : 7AM to 3PM, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
Status : Full time Permanent
Type : Existing Vacancy
Pay Rate : $21.00 per hour, plus piecework rates in accordance with the collective agreement

Summary of Position :
Rail Loaders are responsible for driving customers finished product onto bi-level and / or tri-level Canadian National Railway (CN) rail cars and securing the vehicles for transportation.
Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks :
- Make sure Blue Flag protection is up
- Install / remove bridge plates between the rail cars
- Drive vehicle from drop zones to loading zones, stage for rail loading
- Drive the vehicle from the loading zone, onto the loading ramp and into the rail car
- Park the vehicle following quality standards (e.g., place the seat in the fully back position, place the seat cover, and turn all accessories off, apply parking brake)
- Turn the vehicle off and exit the vehicle without causing damage
- Connect the appropriate amount of chock blocks behind the wheels of the vehicle
- Strap the wheels connecting the chock blocks
- Use a ratchet to appropriately tighten the straps
- Exit the train by climbing down the ladder railings on the outside of the rail car
- Raise / lower or remove bridge plates as needed
- Pull pins / levers to drop the hinge deck lid after you load a deck
- Ensure the loading equipment has been properly inspected
- Check vehicles for any damage and report to Supervisor or Manager
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment, this includes tooling, work vans, rail yard, etc.

Ability to get in / out of vehicles driver side door with minimal door opening clearance (only 12")Good sense of balance, working at a height of approximately 15 ft. above groundClimbing (climbing up or down a ladder on the side of the rail car to enter or exit the train)Carrying & lifting, including above head (chock blocks weigh 3.5-4 kg / 8-9 lbs., bridge plates weigh approx. 23 kg / 50 lbs., ratchets weigh 1 kg / 2 lbs.)Reaching (bridge plates are passed from below to overhead when placing them on the highest level(s) of the rail carsPushing & pulling (pins on deck lids are pulled out and chock blocks are secured by pushing on a pin with the thumb or finger, with 9 kg / 20lbs of force.
