Practice Leader, Legal, Operations and Contract Management

As Legal Practice Leader, Operations and Contract Management within Pomerleau's Legal Department and in operational support, you will play a key role in the company's future success by providing strategic legal advice in construction and commercial law, in addition to leading Pomerleau's administrative contract department dedicated to sub-contracts.

Supporting large-scale construction projects - ranging from $ million to over $1 billion - you will act as an expert in supporting the day-to-day activities and operations of the company (Pomerleau and its subsidiaries) from a legal perspective.

What You Will Do

• Provide strategic and legal support to management and ongoing construction project management teams.
• Prepare, review, analyze, comment on and negotiate various types of contracts, including those related to construction, subcontracting and services.
• Advise project team members on various legal issues.
• Update the company's template bank and corporate documents.
• Review and comment on documentation for public tenders, particularly for alternative mode projects.
• Answer legal questions and support members of the company working on various projects.
• Oversee the legal aspects of ACC-1 sub-contracts.
• Coordinate and collaborate with external legal advisors as required.

This role could be for you if you have

• A bachelor's degree in law and membership in the Quebec Bar (knowledge of common law will be considered an asset).
• 6 or more years' experience in construction or commercial law.
• Significant experience in personnel management (an asset).
• Strong argumentation and legal writing skills, both oral and written.
• Perfect command of French and very good command of English.
• Good knowledge of computer tools and software required for the job.
• Good judgment, initiative, leadership, autonomy, versatility, and team spirit.
• Exceptionally, some travel may be required.
