The Role
The Pre-silicon Validation Team is seeking an energetic, experienced System Emulation Engineer to join our growing team where past products include game consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox One. As a System Emulation Engineer, you will execute and perform debug of issues alongside validation, FW, and IP teams on emulation in order to meet product development milestones. Additionally, you will develop and expand infrastructure to enable increased coverage and testing in a pre-silicon environment.
This role specifically focuses on pre-silicon emulation debug, development and validation of complex boot flows connections and peripherals in the SOC design.

Key Responsibilities
Debug and support of system issues found in firmware, hardware, or software during pre-silicon emulationProviding root cause analysis and guidance for the closure of issues to both internal and customer-facing / external teamsReviewing and planning dependencies, milestones, and deliverables, and coordinating with upstream and downstream teamsDefining and executing pre-silicon coverage on semi-custom systems on emulator systemsDriving collaborative technical discussions and innovations in order to enhance capabilities in system emulation and debug, including tool and script development, technical, and methodology enhancementsDrive own priorities to achieve business goals and ensure deliverables are on schedulePreferred Experience
Prior years of experience with low level debug and emulation execution of SoCs and embedded systems, and their related software / firmware debugIn-depth knowledge of system architecture and concepts, including proficiency in x86 and ARM architecture, their functionality, and debug practicesExperience with emulation systems debug, including experience with industry standard emulator systemsKnowledge of Verilog, C, C++, assembly, TCL / TK, Python, and / or other scripting languagesDemonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quicklyStrong analytical / problem solving skills and pronounced attention to detailsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcel in a dynamic team working environmentSelf-starter, strong collaborator, and able to independently drive tasks to completion, especially those with high ambiguityAssets
Strong understanding of BIOS and other firmware components, OS (Linux, Windows, Android), and driver-level interactions at the system level, common failure points within each, and debug methodologiesKnowledge and use of standard debuggers, programmers, and related tools and methodologies (JTAG, Dstream, Lauderbach, etc.)Working debug knowledge of Windows and Linux-based operating systems and technologies, as well as their needs and limitations in a pre-silicon environmentFamiliarity with Git, GitLab / GitHub and other software repository frameworks and methodologiesTechnical understanding of Graphics, Display, PCIe, Power Management, or Security / Crypto architecture & designAcademic Credentials
Bachelors or Higher Accreditation in CE, CS, EE, or related fields with 5+ years of industry experience
