Applied Industrial Technologies LP is an extensive network of industrial distribution facilities located throughout Canada. We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Application Engineer (Mechanical / Design) based out of any of our Western Canada AIT locations (preferably Edmonton or Calgary).

The Position

Reporting to the Technical & Project Manager – Western Canada, the Application Engineer will be responsible for providing solutions for mechanical components and systems. The ideal candidate must be experienced, determined and influential. They require a broad strategic perspective and proven track record of success in Technical Projects.

Responsibilities

• Research, design and develop mechanical solutions for bearing, power transmission, and rotating equipment (pumps, motors, etc.) components and systems
• Perform detailed analysis and recommendation of the mechanical systems and components such as gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, pumps, motors, material handling, and other mechanical systems
• Produce fabrication and manufacturing drawings using CAD tools
• Oversee technical projects to ensure documentation and quality standards are met.
• Help drive initiatives and results to achieve Technical Services priorities & targets.
• Take ownership of the development of solutions from concept to completion.
• Stay up to date on the latest technologies while looking for opportunities to enhance Applied’s product and service offerings.
• Review technical opportunities and take on as required.
• Coach others in the technologies to help them advance their skills & knowledge.
• Be a responsible member for Applied’s Engineering permits in 2 provinces.
• Documenting value added services for opportunities and solutions provided to the customer
• Perform other duties as assigned.
