The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership for all fleet maintenance, which includes oversight of maintenance facilities, mechanics, scheduling, and maintenance administration.
This role is to effectively and efficiently manage the development and directions of the maintenance team to drive the growth of revenue, productivity and promote high quality customer satisfaction and ensuring the integration of strategic plans with company operations.
Working closely with the executive Team, the core mandate of The Maintenance Planner is to be responsible for the management of all AFD fleet maintenance that supports profitability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, organize, and direct the functions related to the servicing, maintenance, and repair of all AFD HD equipment vehicles.
- Develop and implement new strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve company performance
- Implement scheduling system for preventative fleet maintenance.
- Coordinate repairs / maintenance
- Ensure HM 183 regulatory compliance in the US and CSA-B620 regulations in Canada
- Prepare vehicle specifications according to HD fleet needs
- Direct off-site maintenance, repair, and recovery for roadside vehicle malfunctions.
- Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary
- Meet regularly with department heads / management; facilitate resolution of issues / problems between branches and / or departments
- Create, monitor, and report on weekly and monthly logistics key performance indicators
- Responsible for appropriate staff levels to meet requirements of the department
- Manage the morale in the department by setting and demonstrating a strong business ethic for dealing with employees, suppliers, and customers
- Enhance and develop policies, procedures, and systems to meet the goals of the department
- Monitor financial performance to ensure department is meeting / exceeding budget
- Analyzes and report on the daily, monthly, and annually department’s key performance indicators and industry trends
- Develop and implement strategies around improving financial performance of the department
- Analyze the Customer’s concern and present options to solve their issue
- Update work orders with applicable information to provide data quickly and easily to Customers
- Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures
- Provide customer support by addressing any questions, problems, specific equipment requirements or requests for service.
- Assist Safety Coordinator with safety and health projects and initiatives
- Monitor usage of supplies and identify inappropriate use and respond accordingly. Order necessary supplies
- Conduct Safety meetings with maintenance personnel and report on results. Follow up on all points to ensure matters are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner
- Provide regular and accurate reporting for all WCB incidents and injuries.
- Communicate to management and human resources as required.
- Monitor and recommend corrective action.
- Ensure compliance meets all legislative requirements, including audiometric, air quality, forklift, WHMIS, First Aid Responder, OH&S, etc..
- Support revisions to company policies and initiatives regarding HSE, MSDS and hazardous task management as required.
- Ensure CVIP and VKIP requirements are completed on the AFD Fleet
- Creation of practices and procedures
- Review of all Operations Vendor billing for AP approval
- Other related duties as required or assigned.

Management and / or supervisory experience
Professional written and verbal communication skills
EXPEREINCE
3+ years’ management experience in technical related role
3+ years’ experience in fuel, transportation, or oil and gas industry
EDUCATION
Journeyman / woman Heavy Duty Mechanic
Post-Secondary Degree in Management preferred
High School Diploma or GED required
Class 1 Drivers License an asset
