Salary : $90,000-$110,000

Tasks and Responsibilities :

Particular tasks and responsibilities include :

• Conducting detailed analysis of the contract documents and specifications, to determine overall project requirements (bonding, insurance, etc.) and identifying any associated risk factors, including the monitoring of published addendas that may alter the original scope of the project.
• Completing full quantity take-off of all labour, equipment and materials required to complete the project as per contract specifications to ensure accuracy of pricing.
• Establishing a critical path schedule on the estimated milestone progress dates and completion timelines in order to meet the contract completion dates.
• Soliciting pricing from subcontractors and suppliers for labour, equipment and materials, in order to ascertain the most competitive price.
• Completing final cost estimate of a project through the use of Bid2Win estimating software, or excel templates incorporating all labour, equipment, and material data, pricing documentation, overhead and profit margins, and producing a final tender submission for review and approval of Chief Estimator and Management.
• Preparing final tender documents for submission to client on behalf of Surespan in order to meet contract deadline submission requirements.
• Acting as a liaison with external consultants, subcontractors and project management organizations to estimate project budget requirements and coordinating tender development process on behalf of clients.
• Reviewing the project scope, schedule, budget, and project execution plan and identifying any potential risks prior to the project starting and throughout its life cycle

Education and Experience Required :

Minimum two years of construction experience with a focus in estimating or project management. College diploma or university degree in engineering or construction management is beneficial but not mandatory. Preference will be given to those who have previous estimating experience with a general civil or heavy civil contractor with experience working in the natural resources (forestry, mining, oil & gas) or public infrastructure sectors.

The Estimator will be located in Prince George, British Columbia. It should be expected that some travel may be required. Applicants must hold a valid Class 5 Drivers License, Passport, and already be legally permitted to work in Canada.
