Role Responsibilities

Are you passionate about ensuring high-quality care for Albertans in continuing care settings? As a Health Compliance Officer (HCO) , you will play a critical role in monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Continuing Care Act, its regulations, and associated standards.

In this position, you will conduct thorough on-site inspections, audits, and investigations to ensure that home and community care providers and continuing care homes comply with provincial standards, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of clients.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Conducting risk-based audits and on-site inspections to assess compliance with the CCHSS and / or Accommodation Standards in publicly funded continuing care settings.
  • Investigating complaints and incidents reported by clients, families, and service providers, reviewing non-compliance issues related to CCHSS and Accommodation standards, and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Ensuring compliance with "Duty to Notify" reporting requirements, reviewing incidents such as serious harm, damage, or activation of contingency plans.
  • Provide clinical and professional expertise on IPC and continuing care standards, supporting compliance monitoring, quality assurance, and risk management practices to ensure the safety and care of residents in publicly funded continuing care programs.
  • Preparing detailed reports with evidence-based recommendations for corrective actions following inspections, audits, and investigations.
  • Providing guidance and technical expertise on regulatory requirements to service providers and compliance teams, helping them meet their legal obligations and improve care delivery.

You will be working within the Home and Community Care Inspection Program (HCCIP) or Continuing Care Home Inspection Program (CCHIP), and this recruitment pool will be used for several vacant positions across both units.
