Maintenance Machinist

Overview

Cardinal Health, with over 1300 employees in Canada, is an essential link in the Canadian healthcare supply chain, providing over 70,000 products to healthcare facilities and medical professionals across the country. Cardinal Health Canada is seeking a Maintenance Machinist to join the Gananoque team. The role provides production support in a fast-paced, highly technical environment, including maintaining tool crib min / max levels of replacement parts, using machine shop equipment, adjusting and troubleshooting production machinery, and ensuring overall equipment reliability. The position requires working shifts in a manufacturing environment and may involve frequent project work such as machine modifications, construction, and installation of new equipment. The candidate must communicate with machine operators, lead hands, supervisors, engineers, and other mechanics daily to improve equipment OEE while maintaining safety and quality targets.

Location : Gananoque, Ontario. Shift : Mon – Fri 7 : 00 am – 3 : 00 pm. After 2–3 months, flexibility to work other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate replacement parts in the machine shop, machine new parts from drawings or broken / worn components.
• Perform CNC programming using CAM software (Mastercam) for lathes and mills.
• Conduct conventional machining using lathes, mills, cylindrical grinders, and surface grinders.
• Perform heat treating of metals to drawing specifications.
• Order raw materials and tooling to support ongoing machine shop needs.
• Repair production machinery, investigate and determine root causes of problems, and collaborate in a team environment.
• Install replacement parts, perform necessary setups and adjustments.
• Perform required testing to ensure satisfactory performance.
• Document work and comply with ISO procedures and standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery and test machines when assembled.
• Assemble new machinery from engineer drawings and interpret drawings to consult with engineering to improve part design.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and PPE requirements and training.
• Follow safety procedures, escalate unsafe conditions, injuries, and hazard observations to protect operators.
• Perform precision fitting and assembly work.
• Engage in shift meetings and communicate breakdowns and corrective actions effectively.
• Inform production and maintenance personnel of daily challenges.

Qualifications

Compensation and Other Details

Pay range : $26.80 – $41.53 per hour (plus $0.84 shift differential).

Bonus eligible : Yes. Bonuses are not guaranteed and are based on individual and company performance and other factors per the company’s bonus plan.
