Summary :
Reporting to the Design Manager, the Design Technologist will be responsible for developing and
preparing engineering drawings, plans, diagrams or layouts from sketches, initial ideas, previous
designs and other data.
Salary
60,000 to $80,000 Depending Upon Experience
Job Scope and Tasks :
- Develop and prepare designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches,
specification sheets and other data.
Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) drafting workstationsExperience with Inventor or other 3D modeling softwareExperience with Autodesk Vault or other file management softwareDesign products for ease of fabrication and installation at siteCreate Bills of Material (BOM)Complete report packages and prepare drawings for fabricationCheck and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design dataJob Qualifications :
Completion of a 2-year diploma in Civil Engineering or Engineering Design Technology at arecognized Institute of Technology such as NAIT
Thorough understanding of 3D modeling software such as Autodesk InventorKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of applicationsSolid understanding of the important of deadlines and ability to work under pressureAbility to visualize three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawingsExperience with mechanical or industrial design would be a definite assetKnowledge of the qualities of metals, plastics, wood and other materials of fabrication andconstruction methods and standards
