We are currently seeking a skilled General Maintenance Worker to join our residential maintenance team in Nanaimo , British Columbia . Key Responsibilities :
- General building maintenance under close supervision .
- G rounds, maintenance and minor repair work .
- G eneral labour work as assigned by property and resident management team, including loading, unloading, moving materials and running errands .
- P ainting and drywall patching .
- Replac ing light bulbs / lamps , clean ing fixtures , and m ov ing furniture .
- Respond ing quickly to emergencies and resident concerns .
- Monito ring landscaping, common area and parking facilities .
- Performing some janitorial duties as needed .
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and practicing safe work habits .
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skillsets :
Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance work .Excellent interpersonal skills .Ab le to communicate effectively and work independently.May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority / emergency situations .May require shift work and / or on-call duties .Pass criminal background requirements .Must have a valid driver's license , a clean driving recor d, and access to a reliable vehicle.Knowledge of older plumbing systems is considered an assetEducation and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent .3-5 years of experience in facilities and building maintenance or relevant experienceA Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing or Electrical will be considered an asset
