Extrusion Machine Operator

Layfield is looking to add an experienced Extrusion Machine Operator to our Manufacturing team at our Edmonton facility. As a key member of the Manufacturing team, this position is responsible for the set-up, operation, and control of the equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, possess a collaborative team mindset, exhibit strong mechanical aptitude, and a constant drive for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities :

• Ensure materials are available prior to the start of production.
• Ensure mixing equipment is ready with the appropriate recipe.
• Set up machine parameters in accordance with the job to be produced.
• Operate / monitor controls to regulate Temperature, Speed, Pressure and other operating conditions to match the product SOC (Standard Operating Conditions).
• Perform adjustments to ensure Product Quality Specifications are met.
• Resolve minor equipment malfunctions and quality issues.
• Complete start up and shutdown Extrusion / Lamination checklists.
• Responsible for the complete and accurate recording of production during the shift, this includes Shop Clock, RiteScan, Bartender and Unipoint.
• Maintain inventory of materials during the Production Shift.
• Maintain a well-organized and clean work area that meets 5S requirements.
• Complete Preventive Maintenance tasks as per UpKeep requirements.
• Complete all other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor.
