Overview
Junior Project Manager / GIS Environmental Draftsperson in our Edmonton office. The successful candidate will report to the Northern Regional Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with designing and conducting Detailed Site Assessments, Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, including drilling and soil sampling programs, conducting groundwater monitoring and sampling programs, interpreting analytical laboratory results, analyzing and interpreting the collected environmental data and writing technical reports; and
- Assisting with the design and implementation of remediation systems.
- Assisting with the implementation of reclamation activities.
- Coordination and completion of vegetation management activities.
- Generating drawings including aerial photographs, site plans, cross sections, fence diagrams, isometrics, borehole / test pit logs, and analytical results from project manager sketches and / or notes and as required for various projects.
- Decipher information from preliminary data, field notes, sketches, survey plans, and GPS in order to create accurate drawings and plans.
- Obtain Certificates of Title, legal plans, composite map, parcel identifier, and other documents from Land Title Office.
- Interpret and compile Land Title information for preparation of accurate legal drawings.
AutoCAD Duties Include
Georeferencing aerial photos into correct projected coordinate systemsIncorporation of field data and survey plans to plot field sampling locations and cross-sectionIncorporation of provided sampling data to produce groundwater flow diagrams (Knowledge of Surfer will be considered an asset)ArcGIS Duties Include
Utilizing standard GIS applications such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS OnlineCreation and maintenance of client / area geodata basesMaintenance of TLS’s ArcGIS Online portal including publishing maps for field staff, and importing / exporting field data using ESRI’s Field Collector app.Qualifications And Skills
Bachelor of Applied Technology Geographic Information Systems or Equivalent.Ability to multi-task, good organization, communication (written & verbal) and problem-solving skillsExperience using ArcGIS Pro. Consideration will be given to applicants with experience in AutoCAD 2021 or Civil 3D software.Experience working in an environmental or natural resource firm as well as exposure to aerial imagery, data sources, database and mapping applications is preferred. Experience with field surveying concepts and techniques, and GPS technology considered an asset.Ability to establish good rapport and build relationships with peers and clients by responding to requests and communicating information in a timely manner, exercising initiative and judgment to complete recurring assignments.Compensation
