Job Description

This part‑time position (0–19 hours per week) operates Monday to Friday at the FYidoctors – Osoyoos clinic. The Optometric Assistant is the first point of contact for patients, providing front desk reception, pre‑testing, and retail sales of eyewear while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Welcoming patients into the clinic and fostering a positive patient experience.
• Checking patients in and out of the office.
• Communicating with patients in person, by phone, and by email.
• Managing appointment bookings, prescription printouts, billing and payments.
• Administering pre‑testing services.
• Educating clients about eyewear options, ensuring they receive value and quality.
• Assisting with the selection of frames to suit aesthetic and performance needs.
• Interpreting optical prescriptions as written by an optometrist.
• Performing frame and facial measurements for correct fit and positioning and making repairs and adjustments to returning patients' eyewear.
• Placing contact lens orders and assisting with fittings.
• Upholding excellent customer service standards.

What Do You Bring?

• Previous optical experience is required.
• Experience in a customer‑facing retail environment is preferred.

• High level of comfort using technology and computers.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
