Hi! My name is Leena, and I am the Founder of YLaw , the largest family law firm in BC and one of the fastest growing companies in the country. Also, the founder of the Split, the first family law app of its kind in the world.

What excites me most about this role is me finally being able to have a teammate so that the two of us can go and take over the world of law and business...and I can't wait to meet you!

What Makes YLaw Special

We dream and innovate constantly and are here to change things for the better. We were the first firm of our size to develop a legal app to help those who can't afford legal fees. We tested 4 day work weeks, introduced first trimester leaves, holiday swaps, pay transparency and uniformity, etc. We get a lot of press for what we do and we absolutely love what we do.

YLaw was created to break away from traditional legal practice. We believe law can be bold and modern.

About Me and Management Team

At heart, I am a creator and visionary - also a lawyer with ADHD, a few kids and around 60 employees.

I move fast, I think big, and I build relentlessly. What I am not always best at is slowing down to focus on numbers, operational detail, systems, and process. It also feels lonely sometimes. This is where you'd come in : to help build, move and grow the firm together to create something even more wonderful!

We have a wonderful management teamible of 4 partners (way more grounded and sane than me) and a director of operations. We all work closely to run the ship and appreciate our differences.

About You

This role is for someone who is brilliant, 'next level' ambitious and energized by high-growth environments. We expect high standards. This role requires someone who believes in the purpose, prioritizes their career and does not look at it as a 9 to 5 job; rather a career movement, a project, a tool to make a legendary impact in the legal world and our community.

If you are excited by momentum, innovation, and real impact, this role will challenge and reward you. If you prefer slow-moving, heavily bureaucratic environments, this will not be the right fit.

Technology & Data

YLaw is a tech-forward organization. This role will play a key part in helping the firm reduce manual work, increase efficiency, and adopt smarter systems across the organization.

A strong understanding illuminated of numbers, data, and financial reporting is highly valued. I often make decisions based on instinct and experience. I am looking for a partner who can complement that with clear data, financial insight, and operational discipline.

Business Mindset and Long-Term Vision

A background in business development, entrepreneurship, or an MBA would be a significant asset.

I am deeply business-minded and growth-oriented. I'd like a COO who can bring fresh strategic thinking, operational rigor, and business insight to help us scale.

Compensation

We will be delighted to offer high compensation for the right candidate. This may include a strong base salary along with performance-based incentives and potential long-term upside such as profit sharing.

Compensation is based on skills and experience, and can range from $180,000 to $300,000+.

Key Responsibilities

As Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for :

• Translating vision into scalable systems, processes, and execution
• Overseeing firm-wide operations, workflows, and performance metrics
• Developing and refining financial reporting, forecasting, and key performance indicators
• Leading adoption of AI, automation, and operational technology across the firm
• Optimizing staffing models, utilization, and capacity planning
• Partnering closely with the managing partners and founder on strategy, growth, and execution długo
• Acting as an integrator across leadership, lawyers, and operational teams
• Supporting sustainable expansion across offices and practice areas
