Casual Inventory Technician

Reporting to a Materials Management Inventory Supervisor, the Inventory Technician is responsible for the accurate accounting and maintenance of Health PEI inventories.

Duties include the receiving, distribution, and shipping of both inventory and direct purchased items.

Duties may also include :

  • During contract conversions : updating templates, labels, etc., preparing waybills for shipping, managing external courier shipping schedule, and ensuring shipments are prepared before daily courier pickup times;
  • Ensuring Material Safety Data Sheets are available according to department protocols;
  • Performing cycle counts, investigating variances, and adjusting the HFS system accordingly;
  • Posting cycle count, reviewing the items and safety stock levels and adjusting the HFS System accordingly;
  • Performing fixes to the HFS System to account for errors;
  • Completing the restocking of the facility’s MedSurg storage rooms;
  • Reviewing internal requisitions and external sales orders and returning incomplete forms to requesters with guidance and ensuring internal requisitions and external sales orders are filled within the client service level of expectation;
  • Picking the internal requisition and external sales orders, checking product numbers and expiration dates to ensure accuracy and entering internal requisition and external sales orders on the HFS System;
  • Creating or modifying internal requisition templates as instructed by the requester;
  • Setting up new external customers on the HFS System and liaising with accounts receivable;
  • Inspecting all incoming orders and matching them to purchase orders on the HFS System;
  • Following department protocols, processing all damaged or unordered goods;
  • Identifying any hazardous goods and following protocols for handling and storage;
  • Prioritizing and breaking down orders for distribution and restocking inventory accordingly;
  • Inspecting expiry dates, rotating stock, and ensuring the items and shelving are clean;
  • Assisting the Procurement Technician in the resolution of invoice match issues;
  • Having knowledge of and promoting organizational / department initiatives to create innovative, efficient and effective supply chain management;
  • maintaining a culture of safety within the organization;
  • Effectively providing direction to a work unit and fostering co-operative teamwork;
  • Printing new labels for updated items in facilities main inventory room and performing a daily check on items to ensure safety stock levels are met;

making additions / removals from the inventory according to the Lean standards set by the department; and other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Economics, Finance, etc.) or a 2-year Diploma in either Business Administration or Accounting;
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Certification (WHMIS);
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to use, computer applications in the performance of duties;
  • Ability to plan, estimate, schedule and coordinate tasks;
  • Must possess organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to think systematically and globally;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills combined with effective presentation skills;
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team-orientated setting of high-volume workloads combined with multiple and tight timelines;
  • Must be able to adapt to changing processes and new technology.

Other Qualifications :

  • SCMA Diploma / Certificate in Supply Management is a strong asset;
  • Experience in the following will be considered an asset : tendering, medical terminology, Supply Chain Management, Oracle Business Suite or similar account system;
  • Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
